Catching up on (hopefully) all EAO ordinations and professions in May-June

EAO: 19th June 2007 -- As promised, here is a list, hopefully complete (but as always this hope depends on the information coming through from one or other part of the region) of ordinations and professions last month and this one.  Mention has already been made (#1872, 1878) of the ordination to diaconate of Falaniko Felise, Samoa (Australia-Pacific), the episcopal ordination of Tim Costelloe, Melbourne (cf. www.sdb.org for photos), and the priestly ordination which will take place this coming 23rd June in Samoa of Taisali Leuluai. Mention was also made of the final profession of Brother Baltasar Sali (ITM) in Jakarta (#1875).
May was a busy ordination and profession month in various parts of the region - or to do with the region. Some would be aware that there is a missionary from ITM in Argentina (Bahia Blanca), Brigildo De Deus.  Bro. Brigildo made his final profession at Zapala Nequen on 26th May, close to where Zeferino Namancurá came from.  It was where Bro Brigildo had completed his practical training.  He is now in 1st year theology in Buenos Aires. Another final profession on 24th May was of a Vietnamese missionary studying in Manila. Bro. Michael Tran Ba Hiep returned to Xuan Hiep, Ho Chi Minh City, for the profession ceremony.
Diaconate ordinations include one from ITM, Juniantoro Bonifacio Onny, ordained at Messina on 9th June along with Eugene Xalxo originally from India but now a missionary to Cambodia (THA) and Joseph Noppadol (THA).  Bishop Calogero La Piana sdb of Messina was the ordaining prelate. In Rome, on 16th June Paolo Ho Trong Phu from Vietnam, but resident in the Gerini community in Rome, was ordained deacon at Sacred Heart Basilica Rome. Bishop Luc Van Looy was the ordaining prelate.
There have been nine priestly ordinations as well. Two Vietnamese students who have studied at the Crocetta after completing their practical training in the Ligure Tascana province, were ordained priest, one at the Basilica of MHC in Turin on 26th May, the other at Livorno on 28th April. They are Joseph Nguyen Ngoc Vinh and Joseph Vu Trong Tai, respectively.
In the Southern Philippines province (FIS), Brian Butanas was ordained priest at Silay, Negros Occidental, on June 15th. Further north in Manila, Abel De Ocampo Jr. was ordained priest.
On 25th June in Korea the following are due for priestly ordination: Timothy Choi Won Cheol, who will depart for PNG-SI Delegation as a missionary later in July, Elijah Lee Min Kyu, Paul Choi Kwang Seob, Mark Yang Cheong Shik and Bernard Lee Jung Seok.
