Upcoming EAO Social Communications Events

MANILA. September 15, 2014. The end of September is fast approaching. We have two things coming up, related to Social Communication.

The first is the FIN SDB Assembly on Soc Com and the other is the Feast of St Jerome which is the International Translation Day.

In October there will be the EAO Meeting of Translators to be held in Vietnam. Thanks to the Province of Vietnam that will host this event.

Social Communications Events

MANILA: September 15, 2014 – The end of September is fast approaching. We have two things coming up, related to Social Communications

The first is the FIN SDB Assembly on Social Communications, to be held in Don Bosco-Makati, (September 27) open for all Salesians. This serves as an ongoing formation opportunity (that starts at home) for all Salesians. Like Don Bosco, we are communicators and ready to use the means of communications for the glory of God and the salvation of the young.

This one day activity aims at making the confreres of the FIN Province become aware and appreciate the power of social communication. Hopefully, after this event, they become more effectively present in the real and/or the virtual world of the young and old, become more proactive users of this contemporary means of social communications in being bearers of God’s Good News to whoever they are sent to serve.

The second event is on the 30th of September, it is the feast of St. Jerome - Doctor of the Church. The who translated the Bible into Latin, which was the common language of his time. His feastday is declared as the International Translation Day.

This feast will remind us of another activity, the first EAO Translators Meeting. It will be held from October 9 until the 11th, in K'Long, north of Saigon, Vietnam. The main goal of this meeting is to share the good translation practices in the EAO region and start the mutual support in order to improve the quality of translations and the formation of translators.
