Le camere di don Bosco. 

Un laboratorio dello Spirito (video 2000)

 

La sera del 26 gennaio 1854 ci radunammo nella stanza del Sig. Don Bosco, Rochietti, Ortiglia, Cagliero, Rua. La stessa sera ci fu posto il nome dei Salesiani, a coloro che si proposero o si proporranno di far esercizio (dell’amore verso il prossimo) con l'aiuto di Dio e di San Francesco di Sales...

 

“Andate in tutto il mondo, annunciate il Vangelo ad ogni creatura.”

“Ho fatto sempre quello che ho potuto, quanto ancora resta a fare, ci penseranno i miei figli.”

“Dammi le anime, le altre cose non mi interessano.”

“E’ necessario darsi totalmente a Dio, è necessario darsi totalmente a Dio, con i pensieri,…

 

Entrando aveva notato subito quel cartello appeso alla parete. Era il programma di don Bosco:

- «Dammi anime; le altre cose non mi interessano». Domenico capì e si affidò docilmente al maestro.

 

Queste parole rivelano il segreto di don Bosco. C'era in lui un'idea che lo ispirava: raggiungere tutti i giovani; aiutarli a realizzare se stessi; portarli alla pienezza della gioia. Quasi un'ansia, che generava un fervore travolgente, un lavoro senza limiti. Ispirava progetti e sogni, incontri e fondazioni.

 

- «Il prete dev'essere come il Buon Pastore che dona la vita».

Celebrando l'Eucaristia si offriva sull'altare con Gesù, per conformarsi a Lui.  Invocava Maria come maestra di amore a Dio e di servizio al prossimo, Aiuto dei cristiani nelle lotte del vissuto.

 

Da queste finestre lo sguardo di don Bosco andava oltre il cortile e la chiesa di Valdocco. Sognava i giovani del mondo intero, la loro disponibilità, il bisogno di formazione e di amicizia. Guardava alla Chiesa, madre di tutti gli uomini, e alla sua missione di salvezza. Percepiva l'urgenza del comando di Gesù:

- «Andate in tutto il mondo, annunciate il Vangelo ad ogni creatura».

 

Riteneva importante coinvolgere molti in questo progetto. Divenne imprenditore della carità, fondatore di famiglie educative. Curò l'organizzazione e la programmazione. Inventò un metodo educativo. Scrisse libri con fecondità impressionante.

- «L'educazione passa attraverso il cuore».

Ne era convinto. Così dedicò gran parte del suo tempo all'ascolto delle persone: in cortile e nella chiesa, nel dialogo e nell'insegnamento.

Fino all'ultimo la sua vita fu consumata per i giovani:

- «Ho fatto sempre quello che ho potuto... Quanto ancora resta da fare! Ci penseranno i miei figli».

Il suo sguardo ci interpella.

 

Stupisce il confronto fra la semplicità del primo Oratorio e la complessità delle costruzioni successive. Don Bosco esprimeva l'amore a Dio e al prossimo curando le piccole cose, dedicandosi con pazienza e affetto ai ragazzi. Ma non rinunciava a guardare lontano.

Ci ha insegnato a unire fedeltà quotidiana e inclinazione all'avventura, lavoro sacrificato e sogni coraggiosi, nello stile di san Francesco di Sales  e nella concretezza di Maria, madre premurosa e potente sostegno.

 

Così ha costruito la sua santità e la sua gloria.

 

Ci sono oggetti a Valdocco che hanno grande forza simbolica per ricordare i capisaldi della sua pedagogia spirituale.

La parola evangelica annunciata dall'ambone della chiesa, che illumina e dà forza.

La parola educativa esposta dalla cattedra della "buona notte" che istruisce e anima.

La parola della misericordia, pronunciata nell'intimità della confessione, che rigenera e orienta.

La parola eucaristica che nutre e trasfigura.

 

La contemplazione di don Bosco, uomo attivo e unito a Dio, rivela la sorgente della fecondità storica della sua opera:

 

- «È necessario darsi totalmente a Dio, con affetti, pensieri ed energie fisiche, perché Egli possa servirsi di noi come meglio crede per la salvezza del mondo».

En entrant il avait remarqué aussitôt l'écriteau accroché au mur. C'était le programme de Don Bosco:  - «Donne-moi des âmes; le reste ne m'intéresse pas». Dominique comprit et devint le fidèle disciple du maître.

 

Ces paroles révèlent le secret de Don Bosco. C'était une idée qui inspirait toutes ses actions: rejoindre tous les jeunes; les aider à se réaliser eux-mêmes; les conduire à la plénitude de la joie. Presque une obsession, qui engendrait une ferveur extraordinaire, un travail sans limites. Elle inspirait des projets et des rêves, des rencontres et des fondations.

- «Le prêtre doit être comme le Bon Pasteur qui donne sa vie».

En célébrant l'Eucharistie, il s'offrait lui-même sur l'autel avec Jésus, pour se conformer à Lui. Il invoquait Marie, la Mère qui apprend à aimer Dieu et à servir le prochain, l'Auxiliatrice des chrétiens dans les combats de l'existence.

De ces fenêtres le regard de Don Bosco allait au-delà de la cour et de l'église de Valdocco. Il voyait en songe tous les jeunes du monde, leur disponibilité, leur besoin de formation et d'amitié. Il pensait à l'Eglise, mère de tous les hommes, et à sa mission de salut. Il percevait l'urgence du commandement de Jésus:

- «Allez dans le monde entier, annoncez l'Evangile à toute la création».

 

Don Bosco voulait faire participer le maximum de personnes à ce projet. C'est pourquoi il devint un entrepreneur de la charité, un fondateur de familles spirituelles dédiées à l'éducation. Il écrivit des livres avec une fécondité impressionnante.

- «L'éducation passe à travers le cœur»:

il en était persuadé. C'est pourquoi il donna beaucoup de son temps à l'écoute des personnes: sur la cour de récréation et à l'église, dans le dialogue personnel et dans l'enseignement.

 

Jusqu'à son dernier souffle sa vie fut entièrement consumée pour les jeunes:

- «J'ai toujours fait ce que j'ai pu... Mais il reste tant à faire! Mes fils y penseront».

Son regard nous interpelle.

 

Quel contraste entre la simplicité du premier Oratoire et la complexité des constructions sucessives! Don Bosco faisait passer son amour de Dieu et du prochain à travers les petites choses, en se donnant avec patience et affection au service des jeunes. Mais il ne renonçait pas à regarder au loin. Il nous a enseigné à ne pas séparer la fidélité au quotidien et le goût de l'aventure, le travail patient et les rêves courageux, dans le style de saint François de Sales, avec le sens du concret de la Vierge Marie, mère attentive et puissant secours. C'est ainsi qu'il a construit sa sainteté et sa future glorification.

 

Il y a à Valdocco des objets qui ont une grande force symbolique parce qu'ils rappellent les points forts de sa pédagogie spirituelle.

La parole évangélique annoncée du pupitre de l'église, qui apporte la lumière et donne la force.

La parole éducative, exposée familièrement sur cette estrade du "mot du soir", qui instruit et anime les jeunes.

La parole de la miséricorde, prononcée dans l'intimité de la confession, qui régénère et oriente.

La parole eucharistique, qui nourrit et transfigure.

La contemplation de Don Bosco, homme actif et uni à Dieu, nous révèle la source de la fécondité historique de son œuvre:

- «Donnez vous entièrement à Dieu, avec vos affections, vos pensées et toutes vos énergies physiques, pour qu'Il puisse se servir de vous selon son dessein pour le salut du monde».

"On the evening of 26^th January 1854 Rochietti, Otiglia, Cagliero, Rua and I met in the Don Boscos’ room. From that evening on the name ‘Salesians’ was given to those who took part and follow this code (of loving the neighbour) with the help of God and of St. Francis de Sales..."

“Go out into the whole world and proclaim the Good News to everyone!”

“I have always done, what I could, how much more remains to be done. My sons will see to the rest!” “Give me souls, take away the rest.” “Give your soul completely to God, give your soul completely to God, with your reflections, bones, physical energies...

    Entering the room, Dominic immediately noticed the placard hanging on the wall. It contained Don Bosco’s project: - «Give me souls; take away the rest». Dominic understood its meaning and entrusted himself completely to his master. These words reveal the secret of Don Bosco. The guiding principle of his life was to reach out to all youth, to help them realize themselves and to lead them to the fullness of joy. It became almost an obsession for him, that gave rise to an overwhelming zeal and untiring effort, inspired dreams and ventures, and institutions.

   - «The priest should be like the Good Shepherd who gives his life for his flock». Celebrating the Eucharist, he offered himself along with Jesus on the altar in order to conform himself to Him. He invoked Mary as the teacher of the love of God and service to neighbour, as the Help of Christians in their everyday struggles.

 

From these windows Don Bosco’s gaze extended beyond the playground and the church of Valdocco. He dreamed of the boys of the whole world, their readiness, their need for formation, their friendship. He gazed at the Church, the mother of all, and at her mission of salvation. He became aware of the urgency contained in the command of Jesus:

- «Go out to the whole world and proclaim the Good News to everyone».

He deemed it important to involve as many people as possible in this venture. He became an entrepreneur of charity, a founder of educational families. He took up their planning and organization. He evolved an educational method. He produced books in a prolific manner.

- «Education is a matter of the heart»: he was convinced of that. Hence, dedicated much of his time listening to people – in the playground, in the church, in personal colloquy and in teaching.

    Until his last breath, his life was spent for youth. - «I have always done what I could… How much more remains to be done! My sons will see to the rest». His gaze and vision is for us both an invitation and a challenge.

There is a striking dissimilarity between the simplicity of the first Oratory and the complexity of the later constructions. Don Bosco expressed his love of God and neighbour by being attentive to little details and by dedicating himself to boys, with love and patience. Always he kept looking ahead.

    He has taught us to combine - in the manner of  St. Francis de Sales and with the realism of Mary, our caring mother and powerful help - fidelity with a spirit of adventure, self-sacrificing work with courageous dreams.                                      In this manner he attained sanctity and glory.

At Valdocco are preserved some objects of great symbolic value. They remind us of the foundations of his spiritual pedagogy:

The pulpit of the church, from where the word of God was proclaimed: a word that enlightens and gives strength. The ambo of the “good night” talk, from where the word of education was imparted: a word that instructs and animates. The confessional, from whose intimacy the word of mercy was pronounced: a word that regenerates and guides. The altar, on which the Eucharist was offered: the bread that nourishes and transforms.

The contemplative dimension in Don Bosco, a man of action and union with God, reveals the secret of the extraordinary fruitfulness of his apostolate. - «Give yourself completely to God, with all your affections, thoughts and physical energies. In this way He can make use of you as He deems best for the salvation of the world».

Entrando había notado enseguida aquel cartel colgado en la pared. Era el programa de Don Bosco. - «Dame almas; las demás cosas no me interesan». Domingo Savio entendió y se confió dócilmente al maestro.

 

Estas palabras revelan el secreto de Don Bosco. Hubo siempre en él una idea que lo inspiró: llegar a  todos los jóvenes;  ayudarlos a realizarse a sí  mismos;  llevarlos a la plenitud del gozo. Era como un ansia, que generaba un fervor arrollador, un trabajo incansable, sin limites.

Inspiraba proyectos y sueños, encuentros y fundaciones.

 

- «El sacerdote debe ser como el buen pastor que da su vida».

Celebrando la eucaristía se ofrecía sobre el altar con Jesús, para configurarse a El.  Invocaba a  Maria como maestra de amor a Dios y de servicio al prójimo, Auxiliadora de los cristianos en las luchas de la experiencia cotidiana.

 

Desde estas ventanas la mirada de Don Bosco iba más allá del patio y la iglesia de Valdocco. Soñaba a los jóvenes del mundo entero, su disponibilidad, la necesidad de formación y de amistad. Miraba a la Iglesia, madre de todos los hombres,  y a su misión de salvación. Percibía la urgencia del mandato de Jesús:

- «Id por todo el mundo, anunciad el Evangelio a todas las creaturas».

 

Consideraba  importante comprometer a muchos en este proyecto. Se hizo empresario de la caridad, fundador de  familias educativas. Cuidó la organización y la programación. Inventó un método educativo. Escribió libros con una  fecundidad impresionante.

 - «La educación pasa a través del corazón»:

de esto estaba plenamente convencido. Pero eso dedicó la mayor de parte de su tiempo a la escucha  de las personas: en el patio y en la iglesia, en el diálogo personal y en la enseñanza.

 

Hasta el final su vida se consumió en favor de los jóvenes: 

- «Logré realizar siempre todo lo que pude... sin embargo cuanto falta aún por hacer! A ello pensarán mis hijos». Su mirada nos interpela.

 

Nos sorprende la confrontación entre la simplicidad del primer Oratorio y la complejidad de las construcciones sucesivas. Don Bosco expresaba su amor a  Dios y al prójimo cuidando las cosas pequeñas, dedicándose con paciencia y grande afecto a sus muchachos.  Pero no renunció nunca a mirar lejos.

Nos ha enseñado a unir fidelidad diaria e inclinación a la aventura, trabajo sacrificado y sueños valientes,  con el estilo de san Francisco de Sales y con el ejemplo concreto de Maria, madre atenta  y poderoso sostén y auxilio.

Así construyó Don Bosco su santidad y su gloria.

Hay objetos que tienen una gran fuerza simbólica para recordarnos los puntos firmes  de su pedagogía espiritual.

La palabra evangélica anunciada desde el ambón de la iglesia, que ilumina y da fuerza.

La palabra educativa expuesta desde la cátedra de las " buenas noches " que instruye y anima.

La palabra de la misericordia, pronunciada en la intimidad de la confesión, que regenera y dirige.

La palabra eucarística que nutre y transfigura.

La contemplación de Don Bosco, hombre activo y unido a Dios, revela la fuente de la fecundidad histórica de su obra:  - «Entregaos totalmente a Dios, con afectos,  pensamientos y energías físicas, para que El se sirva de vosotros como mejor le plazca para la salvación del mundo».

Beim Eingang haben Sie / habt ihr bestimmt das Schild an der Wand gesehen. Das war das Programm Don Boscos. „Gib mir Seelen, alles andere nimm.“ Domenico Savio verstand das sofort und vertraute sich ganz seinem Meister an.

 

Diese Worte offenbaren das Geheimnis Don Boscos. Er hatte eine Idee, die ihn inspirierte: alle Jugendlichen erreichen, ihnen helfen, sich selbst zu verwirklichen, sie zur Fülle der Freude führen. Das war eine Sehnsucht, die in ihm mitreißenden Feuereifer und Arbeitseinsatz ohne Ende hervorrief, eine Sehnsucht, die Pläne und Träume, Begegnungen und Gründungen beseelte.

 

Der Priester, dachte Don Bosco, muss wie der Gute Hirte sein, der sein Leben hingibt. Wenn er Eucharistie feierte, brachte er sich am Altar dar, um Ihm gleich zu werden. Er rief Maria als Lehrerin der Liebe zu Gott und des Dienstes am Nächsten an, als Hilfe der Christen in den Kämpfen des Lebens.

 

Von diesen Fenstern aus ging der Blick Don Boscos über den Hof und die Kirche von Valdocco hinaus. Er träumte von den Jugendlichen der ganzen Welt, von ihrer Verfügbarkeit und ihrem Bedürfnis nach Bildung und Freundschaft. Er schaut auf die Kirche, die Mutter aller Menschen, und auf ihre Heilssendung. Er spürte die Dringlichkeit des Gebotes Jesu: „Geht in alle Welt, verkündet allen Menschen das Evangelium.“

 

Es war ihm sehr wichtig, viele in dieses Projekt mit einzubeziehen. Er wurde Unternehmer der Liebe, Gründer von Erziehungsgemeinschaften.  Er kümmerte sich um Organisation und Planung. Er erfand eine erzieherische Methode. Er schrieb Bücher mit beachtlicher Wirkung.

Aber im  Letzten war er davon überzeugt, dass die Erziehung eine Sache des Herzens ist. So widmete er einen Großteil seiner Zeit den Personen: Er hörte ihnen im Hof zu und in der Kirche, im persönlichen Dialog und im Unterricht.

 

Bis zum letzten Atemzug seines Lebens brauchte er sich für die Jugendlichen auf: „Ich habe immer getan, was ich konnte ... Wie viel bleibt noch zu tun! Daran werden meine Söhne denken.“

Sein Blick ist ein Anruf an uns.

 

Der Vergleich zwischen der Einfachheit des ersten Oratoriums und der Komplexität der darauf folgenden Gründungen ruft Verwunderung hervor. Don Bosco drückte die Liebe zu Gott und zum Nächsten aus, indem er auf die kleinen Dinge achtete und sich mit Geduld und Zuneigung den Buben widmete. Dennoch verzichtete er nicht darauf, in die Ferne zu blicken.

 

Er hat uns gelehrt, tägliche Treue und die Neigung zum Abenteuer zu vereinen, aufopfernde Arbeit und mutige Träume – im Stil des hl. Franz von Sales und der Konkretheit Marias, der aufmerksamen Mutter und mächtigen Helferin.

So hat er seine Heiligkeit und seine Ehre aufgebaut.

 

Es gibt hier Gegenstände, die eine große symbolische Kraft haben, weil sie an die Eckpfeiler seiner spirituellen Pädagogik erinnern: das Wort des Evangeliums, das vom Ambo der Kirche aus verkündet wird und erleuchtet und Kraft gibt; das erzieherische Wort, das vom Pult der „Guten Nacht“ aus gesprochen wird und belehrt und beseelt; das Wort der Barmherzigkeit, das in der Intimität der Beichte zugesagt wird und erneuert und Orientierung gibt; das eucharistische Wort, das nährt und verwandelt.

 

Die Kontemplation Don Boscos, des aktiven und mit Gott vereinten Mannes, offenbart die Quelle der historischen Fruchtbarkeit seines Werkes: „Sich ganz Gott hingeben“, mit seiner Zuneigung, seinen Gedanken und körperlichen Energien, damit Er sich unser bedienen kann für das Heil der Welt, wie es ihm am besten gefällt.
