Paranaque City, the Philippines, 19 January 2018 --- The Bishop of the Diocese of Paranaque, the Most Reverend Jesse Mercado, DD, blessed the new set of Carillon Bells of the National Shrine of Mary Help of Christians.
The solemn ceremony began at 5:00 in the afternoon. Fr. Paul Bicomong, SDB, the FIN Provincial Superior, Fr. Ernie Cruz, SDB, the parish priest, together with the parish pastoral council and representatives of the different parish organizations, the whole Salesian community of the parish together with representatives of the different branches of the Salesian Family, Paranaque City Mayor Edwin Olivares and his wife Mrs Janet Angeles Olivares and some representatives from the local government, and the benefactors and friends of the parish community graced this solemn blessing with their presence.
Thanks to Fr. Ernie Cruz who initiated the project and to the many generous support of people who believe that the solemn sounds of real bells are like the voice of God inviting the faithful to worship.
This event ended with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass at 6:30 in the evening with Bishop Mercado presiding.
