(:des: It is interesting to note that Don Bosco was seeking approval for the Society of St Francis de Sales precisely at a time when the Church was revising its approach. This, along with certain difficulties Don Bosco was facing in his personal relationships with his archbishop (Gastaldi) in the last part of the process particularly, meant it was 1874 before he finally gained the last needed approval.
