By ASC - Korea Provincial Council

Seoul, South Korea -- After a year of patient work by the provincial council of the Salesian Cooperators in South Korea (provincial coordinator Mr Andrew Park) an 80 page integral survey is ready for publication. The 700 member-strong ASC province aims with this project to inspire people with the stories (+photos) of apostolate and raise the quality of the youth ministry of its members.

Each one of the 13 local Centres (some of them made up of 2-3 'teams') that contributed to this mission - apostolate survey publication, share its recent 20 year history (delegates SDB or FMA, members and aspirants, active or non-active) with a rather detailed report on their apostolic activity. The ASC mission is closely growing alongside the focus of Korean SDBs and FMAs who are committed to youth in need or at risk: mobile city out-door Oratory, summer camp, group home assistance, marginalized youth in the school or various out-door activities like pilgrimage.

The scheme of the mission-apostolate survey is characterized by a systematic and pedagogical approach: first telling the history of the local centre (origin, basic motivation for coming together, method of formation) and then a rather detailed description of their youth apostolate ('story and back-story') with many concrete 'hints' for the next generation of the Salesian Cooperators - how to approach the difficult youth, how to prepare different youth programs and other interesting points.

From the Seoul metropolitan area, through the centre and southern zone up to the Jeju island centre, even a complete stranger can be inspired by this simple inspiring ASC story-telling. We congratulate this initiative and the patience in collecting all the little details over a year (provincial councilor for the apostolate, based in Gwangju Salesian school) and hope that many people concerned with youth may get involved in the youth mission.
