Priestly ministry is derived from Holy Orders. Lay and religious ministries have their foundation in Baptism and Confirmation. ''Ministry'' and mission are sometimes confused. They are closely related but also distinct. ''Ministry'' is the way of carrying out the ''mission'', based on a determined charism and recognition on the part of competent ecclesiastical authority. Therefore one can participate in the same ''mission'' through various ''ministries''. ''Ministry'' is realised through different ''tasks'' but without being identified with them. Teaching or catechesis are not the same as Salesian Youth Ministry ?, for example, though Salesian youth ministry may well involve teaching and catechesis.
