Anisakan, Myanmar (MYM), 10 May 2025 _ The GC-29 transmissions, organized by the superior Fr. Bosco Nyi Nyi, and his vicar Fr. Leo Mang, were held in Don Bosco Retreat Centre, Anisakan, from May 7th to 9th 2025. 34 perpetually professed confreres actively participated in the event. From 6.30 a.m. (Lauds, Meditation, Mass) till 9.00 p.m., the schedule of the whole day was well-balanced: three sessions in the morning, and two in the afternoon, with ample time to be together for rest, discussions, meals, games, and get-together in a family spirit.
From the Theme of the GC 29 “PASSIONATE ABOUT JESUS CHRIST, DEDICATED TO YOUNG PEOPLE”, we chose out two Core Areas, viz., (1) Animation and Care of the real life of each Salesian, and (2) Salesians, Salesian Family and Lay People together “With” and “For” Young people. The confreres were divided into three groups, each headed by a senior-most confrere. Before 9.00 a.m., the Provincial or the Vicar animated the assembly and explained the theme and the work to be done by each in the group. Every evening at 4.30 p.m., the groups convened in the Hall to report on their group’s work of reflection on the above topics. At 5:00 p.m., all participants are involved in football matches. At 6.00 p.m., there was the Rosary together, followed by Vespers and the Good Night by Fr. Provincial.
The two core areas were reading privately, listening to the sharing of others on the topic, expressing what had touched the heart from the sharing, and noting down choices, all of which were interspersed with moments of silent prayer. (It is the method from The conversation in the Spirit, A dynamic of discernment in the synodal Church, with the following steps: Personal Preparation, Taking the word and listening, Making space for others and the Other, Building together, and Final prayer of thanksgiving.
There was a group photo session in the morning of 9th May, Friday; the confreres wore the T-shirt with the Logo and Theme of the GC 29.
May 9th, Friday: Fr. Provincial gave time for confreres to ask any questions about the Province and its works, allowing open and frank airing out of one’s feelings for or against some points in the Province. On the whole, the gathering was marked by a family spirit and the desire to see the Province grow. Fr. Provincial thanked one and all sincerely and profusely for their active participation in all the activities and programmes. At 4.30 p.m., each of the three groups presented a programme (in the form of a dialogue, a playlet, a TikTok song) which was very much enjoyed. The last Good Night of Fr. Provincial thanked the confreres and encouraged them to build their Communities around the Rector and to love, defend and care for each other (especially our young confreres in Formation), boiling down all these points to “Let us love one another because He first Loved us!” (First Letter of John, 4:19).
The evening of 9th May was marked especially by the childlike joy and sincerity of the confreres taking active part in the various skills and social games organized by Fr. Provincial himself. Generous monetary prizes were given to all the three groups.
All the confreres felt loved, accepted, and appreciated in the Province for who they are and for the service they had given out of their goodwill and love for the Congregation.
