DBTSS, Kokopo, PNG, 11 April 2025 - One tradition the school observes every Lenten season is the Stations of the Cross, especially before Holy Week.
On the morning of April 4, 2025, the school was prepared for the Living Stations of the Cross. The path from the first to the fourteenth station was set entirely within the school grounds—beginning at the field, proceeding to the covered court, then to the chapel and Salesian residence, through the market area, and finally ending at the school gym, where the last four stations were performed.
After the morning assembly and attendance check of twenty classes, more than 600 students gathered for the Lenten ceremony. The school community began with a short prayer and a rendition of the hymn Faithful Cross.
Fourteen boarders from the Grade 12 Science and Humanities streams combined their talents to offer a powerful dramatic presentation. These Bosconians took their roles to heart, aiming to leave a lasting impression on their younger peers before completing their time at DBTSS. Through strong conviction and moving performances, they brought to life Jesus’s journey—from condemnation in the first station to his burial in the fourteenth. The school community also participated as part of the crowd, witnessing Christ's Passion.
Following each station, Fr. Moise Paluku, SDB, led the depiction while selected teachers read prayers and reflections. After each reflection, the community responded with a prayer before moving on to the next station until all fourteen were completed.
Willie Kubaki of Grade 12 Humanities played the role of Jesus. The music ministry, made up of six talented students from various youth groups and led by Ferdinand William—a Construction and Building Maintenance student from Trainee 2 Sandor—provided moving accompaniment. The four hymns sung by the community deepened the spiritual experience, bringing everyone closer to the Lord and Savior.
The students expressed their desire to live out love and strengthen their faith, paying tribute to the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus. It was a moving, inspiring, and deeply meaningful moment. The event offered the school community a powerful opportunity to witness and reflect on the Passion of Christ as a united body of Faith, Hope, and Love.
The annual Living Stations of the Cross concluded at 9:30 a.m. Fr. Moise Paluku, SDB, the school rector, delivered his Lenten message, after which classes resumed for the next period.
