Timor-Leste 8 April 2025 - On Saturday, 5 April 2025, the Instituto Superior Dom Bosco (ISDB), through the Student Council, organized a seminar on leadership at the Dom Bosco CENTEC Gymnasium. The speaker was Fidelis M. L. Magalhães, who was our past pupil at Don Bosco Venilale Minor Seminary.
This training program was attended by over 1,800 participants, predominantly university students and young adults. The youth participants demonstrated notable enthusiasm and some had the opportunity to express their doubts, suggestions, and other feedback.
During the seminar, Fidelis presented the historical aspects and types of leadership, and proposed the ideal leadership for Timorese society. This ideal leadership combines charismatic and technocratic styles. Additionally, Dr. Fidelis expounded on simple public speaking strategies and argumentation methods, underscoring their significance in democratic public discourse. The speaker also placed significant emphasis on the Salesian educational system, emphasizing the value of nurturing leaders through love rather than the use of physical force.
Our profound gratitude goes to the speaker for his contribution to our educational endeavors. His presence and expertise have enriched our learning environment, fostering knowledge exchange among students from diverse backgrounds, including ISDB, as well as other universities and institutions.
