Boroko, Port Moresby, PNG, 7 April 2025 - Mary Help of Christians Vocational Education Training FODE Centre (MHCVETFC) held its 4th Laudato Si’ Camp from April 4–6, 2025, at the Don Bosco Technical Institute Gymnasium in Boroko, Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. This camp aimed to promote care for Mother Earth, all living creatures, humanity, and a culture of life, with its theme: "Reuse, Recycle, Hope for Tomorrow".
A total of 210 participants attended the camp, representing four parishes and four schools, including students from MHCVETFC who took part through their six Salesian Youth Groups.
The camp activities included an ice-breaker session (“Getting to Know You”), a presentation on the 5Rs of Environmental Sustainability facilitated by the Media Club members, a special Laudato Si’ Rosary, and a talk on climate change delivered by Mr. Vanua Geno.
An outreach activity gave participants the opportunity for personal encounters with residents of Cheshire Disability Services and selected pupils of Bavaroko Primary School.
Participants also engaged in creative presentations based on the theme, enjoyed a social night, took part in praise and worship moments, and renewed their commitment to care for the environment.
The camp concluded with a Eucharistic Celebration, preceded by the Sacrament of Reconciliation offered to Catholic participants. Everyone left the camp filled with joy and renewed hope to help create a better tomorrow—through care for the environment and, most importantly, for the people around them.
