Hua Hin, Thailand, 30 March 2025 -- On 17-22 March 2025, the Salesian Youth Ministry Commission of Thailand organized the annual vocation camp at the Don Bosco Youth Center, Khao Takieb, Hua Hin, under the theme “Pilgrimage with the Youth, Anchored in Hope.” The campers were composed of 89 Catholic young men from grades 5 to 9 from all regions of Thailand, with Father Noppadol Joseph, the camp director. The 30 member support groups were made up of salesian confreres, cooperators, past pupils, and aspirants in formation. They acted as the committee for organizing various activities in the camp.
This Friendship Camp is an activity of the Salesian Youth Ministry Commission held during the summer holidays, which falls in March every year. It is now in its 54th year (since 1971). Its purpose is to educate the participants about their vocations, to get to know Don Bosco and his spirit, and to make good use of their holidays.
Throughout the camp, the youth were given formation in various topics and participated in the liturgy through the Mass and the reception of the sacraments. The campers had a pilgrimage to the Cathedral of the Catholic Diocese of Ratchaburi on the occasion of the Holy Year. Other events included various recreational activities, Don Bosco treasure hunt, beach activities, sand castle competitions, swimming, stage performances and drama, sports competitions held at the nearby Hua Hin Vitthayalai School, and vocation stories of the Salesian confreres. Sharing about the story of Don Bosco and the Salesian way of life were also highlighted. At the end of the camp, 9 campers applied to join the Salesian aspirantate.
