Bangkok, Thailand, 29 January 2025 -- From 22-24 January 2025, the Formation Commission of the Salesian Congregation of Thailand, led by Fr Aaron Alcoseba, together with Fr Roel Soto and Fr Gerard Gigi Ravasco, organized the annual formation seminar for the 7 brothers who are in the practical training phase and assigned to various Salesian communities in Thailand, Cambodia, and Laos. The seminar was held at Don Bosco Home, Krungthep Kreetha. Each day, the speakers gave training, both in the form of lectures and interspersed with activities on topics such as: Trusting, Listening, Journeying and Empowering. These characteristics were important for growing in maturity for being effective agents among the young and for working with others.
In the evening, the brothers practiced listening to God's voice through silence and controlled breathing, in and out, while focusing on the Word of God. Concentrating on ourselves allowed us to hear God's voice communicating directly with us.
On 24 January 2025, the brothers made a pilgrimage to the birthplace of the Salesian works in Thailand: the Cathedral of the Nativity of Our Lady, in Bangnokkhuek, the newly erected Pasotti House for Spiritual Renewal of the Sisters Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. They also visited 'Cordis Jesu Seminary' the former formation house of Ratchaburi Diocese, where the first Salesian missionaries started their apostolic work. Mass was celebrated at the former chapel presided over by the Provincial, Fr Boonlert Paneetatthayasai. Visiting these places helped to ignite the passion of the Salesian missionaries who pioneered the evangelization work with love and sacrifice.
This seminar energized each brother and provided an opportunity to reflect on their experiences of the Salesian mission in the various communities to which they belong.
