Chumphon, Thailand, 14 January 2025 -- On January 11, 2025, the Pastoral Council of St. Joseph's Church, Tham Singh, Chumphon, a church under the care of the Salesian Congregation, located in the Surat Thani Diocese, organized the 1st Youth Cup Football Competition at the church's football field. The objectives were to allow children to exercise, use their free time productively, and let sports help them avoid drugs. In addition, the day of the competition was also Thailand's National Children's Day. The competition was a celebration of children, who are the hope and future of the country.
The competition was divided into 2 categories (mixed male and female): the 10-year-old category and the 12-year-old category, divided into 10 teams per category. In total, there were 20 teams competing, which were teams from various villages in Chumphon and Ranong provinces. On this occasion, Father Antonio Miele, the parish priest, was honored to present trophies and prize money to the winning teams. The atmosphere throughout the day was filled with happiness and good sportsmanship.
