Hanoi, Vietnam, 21 November 2024 -- At 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, 17 November 2024, Don Bosco Van Phuc Parish joyfully welcomed Archbishop Joseph Vu Van Thien, Archdiocese of Hanoi, to visit and celebrate the Confirmation Mass for thirty-three children in the parish. Concelebrating with Archbishop Joseph were Delegate Superior, Father Thomas Vu Kim Long SDB, Parish Priest Martin Mai Quyet Thang, SDB, along with priests from neighboring parishes and priests in Don Bosco Van Phuc Community. A large number of parishioners, especially 33 children receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation with their parents and godparents, were also present and attended the Mass.
In his homily, Archbishop Joseph shared the journey of faith of the faithful. He emphasized that this journey is not just about learning the Word of God in a day, a week, a month or a year, but begins with receiving the Sacrament of Baptism. Through the Sacrament of Baptism, we are called Christians and are invited to become like Jesus. Therefore, the journey of faith needs to be trained, cared for, nurtured and preserved. Archbishop Joseph also called on everyone to pay attention to educating and accompanying their children in the current social context full of difficulties, pitfalls and challenges. He encouraged everyone to have faith because the Holy Spirit is with us, and we are anointed to become prophets and priests of God, to be sent into the world.
May the Holy Spirit pour out bountiful grace on the young people and their families, so that everyone would have the courage to be witnesses of the Gospel of God in today's world.
