Archdiocesan Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes, Cebu, the Philippines, 6 November 2024 -- The Parish Youth Coordinating Council convened the participants of the 33rd Local World Youth Day of the Archdiocese of Cebu. The LWYD is an archdiocesan iteration of the World Youth Days that the Church has established since December 1985 in Rome. This year, the LWYD will be held in District 6 of the Archdiocese centered in San Remigio, Cebu on November 29 to December 1, 2024.
To prepare the participants for these days, the PYCC gave an orientation on the background, symbols, and needed preparations for the youth days. There will be 30 participants coming from Lourdes Shrine, the biggest delegation in District 2. The participants also had their small group sharing on their expectations and goals for the LWYD.
They will still have three more sessions that focus on group dynamics, training in Taize prayer, and physical tune-up and exercise in preparation for the 14-kilometer walk in the LWYD towards the Capelinha de Fatima in San Remigio.
The LWYD will be the first since the pandemic and will gather young people from the different parishes in the Archdiocese of Cebu. It will be held with the theme "Pilgrims of Hope".
