Anisakan, Myanmar, 5 November 2024 -- On 2 November, as the Church celebrates All Souls Day, the vice-province of Myanmar also has a custom of praying for all souls departed in the Salesian Memorial Garden at Don Bosco-Nazareth every year. In remembrance of the souls departed, we celebrated 3 masses and prayed the rosary with all mysteries (Glorious Mysteries, Sorrowful Mysteries, Joyful Mysteries and Mysteries of Light) for their salvation.
The first mass was celebrated in each individual community with the students only, whereas the second mass was offered with the faithful at the shrine of MHC at 9 A.M. And the third mass was solemnly celebrated at 5:30 P.M in the Salesian Memorial Garden, led by His Grace Bishop Lucas Dau Ze, SDB. However, a homily was given by Superior Fr. Bosco Nyi Nyi, SDB. In the homily, he stressed that the souls in purgatory are in need of prayers and always long for them, so much so that they usually appear to holy people at the request of fervent and urgent prayers for their salvation.
At the end of the mass, a statue of the Resurrected Christ erected at the wall of the Garden was blessed by the bishop. The ceremony was concluded with the prayer, “Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord. And let the perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace. Amen.”
