Port Moresby PNG, 16 October 2024 -- Seven Bosconians proudly celebrated a significant milestone as they joined the ranks of the nation’s pioneer Licensed Electricians under the newly established National Energy Authority (NEA). This achievement reflects their perseverance, dedication, and unwavering commitment to excellence in their field.
In 2022, these Bosconians, along with 22 other candidates, undertook the rigorous electrical licensing examination, which marked a turning point in the country's electrical standards. With PNG Power previously responsible for issuing electrical licenses, the transition of these responsibilities to the NEA represents a new chapter for electrical professionals in Papua New Guinea. Despite the challenges, all seven Bosconians successfully passed the examination and were granted provisional licenses.
Today, at the Inaugural National Energy Authority Pioneer License Presentation Program held at the Gateway Hotel in Port Moresby, these pioneers received their official licenses, cementing their status as licensed professionals capable of working to the highest standards of safety and quality in the country’s energy sector.
As Bosconians, they carry with them the values instilled during their time at Don Bosco institutions: a commitment to hard work, technical precision, and a strong sense of service to the community. Their journey from provisional license holders to fully licensed professionals is a testament to their determination and the quality of education they received.
This achievement not only elevates their professional standing but also places them at the forefront of an evolving energy landscape in Papua New Guinea, where standards and safety are becoming more stringent. The National Energy Authority’s goal of raising the bar for electrical work across the nation is a vision that these Bosconians are now part of, bringing their technical skills and ethical work practices into a field that is critical to the nation’s development.
Their success shines a light on the broader community of Bosconians who continue to contribute to various sectors with discipline, skill, and integrity. This momentous event is a proud day for Don Bosco, the National Energy Authority, and the country, as it showcases the potential of skilled, hardworking individuals to transform industries and shape a brighter future for Papua New Guinea.
