Hua-Hin, Thailand, 27 September 2024 -- The Salesian Province of Saint Paul (Thailand, Cambodia, Laos) hosted the Annual Seminar 2024, focusing on the theme “Salesian Accompaniment.” The seminar was facilitated by Brother Raymond Callo, SDB, who is part of the Formation Sector in the Generalate, Rome. Two batches were scheduled: the first took place from 25 September to 27 September 2024, while the second is set for September 28 to September 30, 2024. The seminar was held at the Salesian Retreat House in Hua-Hin, attracting 80 participants who were the Salesian Confreres, Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, Sisters of the Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Daughters of the Queenship of Mary Immaculate, and the Association of Mary Help of Christians.
Following the opening ceremony, Fr Boonlert Paneetattayasai, the THA Provincial, delivered a welcome speech, urging all participants to embrace this opportunity with open minds and hearts, allowing them to delve deeper into the essence of Salesian Accompaniment. He articulated several important and essential components in the process of supporting people, particularly the youth. Apart from the Salesian historical background regarding accompaniment, Brother Raymond emphasized the significance of being ready to support others by cultivating essential skills such as presence, active listening, empathy, the art of probing, the sacrament of presence, and the crucial attitudes necessary for spiritual growth, etc. Undoubtedly, acquiring a comprehensive understanding of accompaniment in just three days may prove to be inadequate. Nonetheless, this seminar proved to be quite beneficial for the confreres and the members of the Salesian Family, providing them with a clear direction to effectively support young people in today’s world.
Gratitude is extended to Brother Raymond Callo for his generous sharing of insights and experiences. It is our hope that the insights gained from this seminar will inspire all participants to steadfastly reflect on the Will of God and to respond to His Call each day, as they guide the youth and others toward experiencing God’s love and discovering the true essence of life.
