Surabaya, Indonesia, 13 August 2024 -- In view of the 79th Independence Day of Indonesia (on 17 August), the youth leaders of St. Mikael Parish in Surabaya have organized fun outdoor games for the teenagers group (REmaja KATolik) and kids group (Bina Iman Anak). The theme of this activity is “Lanjutkan Perjuangan!" (Continue the Fight!). Since Surabaya is also known as the City of Heroes, this activity is intended to highlight the spirit of heroism, to continue their fight for the unity of this multicultural country.
About 50 participants, consisting of youth, parents, sisters, and Salesians, took part in this occasion. As Don Bosco always did, we hope that every youth under the care of Salesians always has the spirit of patriotism by living out their life as an honest citizen. More importantly, in the context of Indonesia, to inculcate in the young that family spirit and communion as members of the Church and the future of the country.
