Don Bosco Youth Center - Lourdes Parish, Cebu, The Philippines, 15 July 2024 -- The after-school music, arts, dance, sports and academics of the Archdiocesan Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes concluded on 14 July with a Grand Recital. LEAP or Lourdes Enrichment Activities Program ran for 6 weeks with training in the different tracks. It is organized by volunteer youth leaders and manned by youth teachers for interested young people in the parish.
The recital showcased the results of the weeks-long practices of learners with their violins, guitars, bandurias, pianos and the like. Parents were serenaded with Disney songs that showcased not only the musical instruments but also the singing skills of voice-training students. It ended with a grand rendition of the song Under the Sea to the applause of the audience.
The other tracks also had their concluding activities within the week. The academics track held their family day at the Lourdes Kindergarten School premises. The different sports tracks also had their exhibition games. While the dance track had its recital last Saturday where students wowed their parents with folk and ballet performances.
LEAP is an after-school training program for youth and youth. Through the training, young people not only develop their talents but our youth leaders have the opportunity to sharpen their leadership and organizing skills. Through this interaction, young people are lead closer to an experience of being-Church.
