Tan Thinh, Vietnam, 04 November 2023 -- As a beautiful tradition, on November 02 every year, Salesians of Saigon and Dong Nai regions of Vietnam have the opportunity to gather and celebrate Mass at Tan Thinh Parish cemetery, the resting place of more than 20 Salesians has passed away. This is an opportunity for confreres to meet and remind each other to show gratitude and pray for the Salesians who have passed away.
At 8:00 a.m., all gathered at the cemetery and asked the Virgin Mary to intercede with God through the Rosary. The Mass was presided over by Father Provincial of Barnabas Le An Phong.
In his homily, the Provincial quoted Saint Paul's letter to the Philippians: "For me to live is Christ, and to die is gain." He expressed his gratitude for the great contributions of the deceased Salesians and wanted to evoke the meaning of their lives as an example for the participants.
After Mass, the Novices had the opportunity to exchange sports with the Pre-Novitiate brothers. This is also a favorable opportunity for the Novices to express their gratitude to the Father Rector and the Superiors in the Pre-Novitiate Community, where they have been attached for the past two years. The meeting ended with a friendly, fraternal sharing meal.
