Kokopo, East New Britain, PNG, 31 May 2022 -- In joy and gladness, the Salesian community of Rapolo celebrated the Solemnity of Mary Help of Christians on 24 May 2022 at the Don Bosco Technical Secondary School, Kokopo, East New Britain Province. In attendance were Salesian Brothers, Priests and Sisters, students of DBTSS and visitors.
Leading up to the solemn feast was the Novena that was prayed from 15-23 May during which the community sought the intercession of Mary in praying to the Lord.
Celebrating the Holy Eucharist on the Feast Day, in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary was Fr. Juna who invited all to take Mary as their own mother and to be open to her. He said that just as a mother who knows her children well, Mary too knows Jesus well and only she can lead us all to her Son.
The Feast was celebrated as a thanksgiving to the Lord for all the graces received through the intercession of the Virgin Mary.
A short program to bless the new Marian grotto in the boarding house and the new staff housing added much joy to the event. This was presided over by the Rector of DBTSS, Fr. Moise Paluku sdb.
Fr. Moise thanked God for all His blessings to the Salesian mission and all those who have contributed to the realization of these projects. The mass was led by the boys from the boarding house. The program concluded with a fraternal meal shared with the Salesian Family.
