Makati, Philippines, 31 May 2022 -- Before concluding the Extraordinary Canonical Visitation to the Northern Philippines (FIN) Province, the Provincial Delegates for Missionary Animation and for Youth Ministry invited Fr. Alfred Maravilla, General Councilor for the Missions, to meet the members of their respective commissions ast May 23, 2022.
Fr. Maravilla challenged the local Delegates for Missionary Animation to foster missionary enthusiasm in the whole Province by keeping the hearts of Salesians inflamed with the passion to evangelise and to make Jesus known. Being consecrated men inflamed with apostolic passion is the best way to overcome the temptation to remain in their comfort zones and the maintenance mode of pastoral activity, he stressed.
Missionary vocations in a Province are born where there is a vibrant missionary spirit. When the Salesians are 'on fire' with missionary spirit, they transmit it to the members of the EPC and to the young they minister to.
Fr. Reynaldo Molavin, the Province Delegate for Missionary Animation (PDMA), invited all the local Delegates for Missionary Animation to make good use of the available aids provided by the Missions Sector: the monthly ‘Cagliero 11’, the 1 minute video ‘CaglieroLife’, the day of prayer for missionaries every 11th of the month and the annual Salesian Mission Day which every Province can choose the date to celebrate it.
The FIN Province was born in 1951 from the Province of China. In turn, it has given birth to the Southern Philippine Province (FIS), the Vice Provinces of Timor Leste (TLS), of Indonesia (INA) and of Papua New Guinea (PGS). Today missionaries from FIN work in Argentina, Brazil, Ethiopia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Israel, Kenya, Lithuania, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Timor Leste and Thailand.
