Many countries are facing great difficulties in the aftermath of the resurgence of the COVID-19 pandemic. In particular, developing countries are suffering from the threat of livelihoods while worrying about meals, aside from quarantine due to the aggravated circumstances of poverty. In this situation, we share a story about the sponsorship of a good company that wants to help difficult conditions in the missions.
On Thursday, May 20, DW Development Co., Ltd. Engineering & Construction and their affiliate DW Bio donated 100,000 KF94 masks called “Airdays” to the KOR Province. The company has actively participated in social contribution activities by donating more than 1 million masks it has produced to people living difficult lives.
Seung joon (Francis) Park, Vice Chairman of DW Development Co., Ltd. Engineering & Construction, who attended the donation ceremony on the day, told Br. Marco Choi, SDB, Provincial Economer and Mission Procurator of KOR Province, “I hope that Korean masks with proven quality and safety are delivered to families of poor youths around the world who are facing difficulties. As a believer, I am grateful that I can be a part of this because I believe that religion can do what the government or corporations cannot do in a country in a barren reality."
The KOR Province has launched a “Supporting Korean Masks” project in mission places where the situation is more difficult due to COVID-19 in solidarity with good and meaningful people. With the participation of the Salesian Family, past pupils and benefactors, we have directly provided more than 50,000 masks to East Timor, Mongolia, and Cambodia. We also plan to deliver a total of 50,000 masks to Southeast Asia and Oceania regions, such as the Philippines, Papua New Guinea, and the Solomon Islands.
