Gulu - Uganda, 11 June 2020 -- On the 10th of June the Caritas Sisters of Jesus started their annual Novena to the Sacred Heart of Jesus before the upcoming Solemnity (June 19, 2020). The 83-year-old Congregation, born in Japan, has now spread to 16 different countries and the missionary outreach has also brought also vocation fruits. In recent years we can find the Caritas Sisters in Vietnam, China, Papua New Guinea or of the Philippines.
Caritas Sisters are happy to share their new vocation frontiers in three continents:
Last 29 May in the Philippines (Quezon City-Metro Manila) the first two Filipina Sisters: Sr. Lucia Apurado and Sr. Clara Larawan made their perpetual profession in their formation house (due to the restrictions of the Covid19 pandemic). Both Sisters come from the Salesian parish of St John Bosco in Mambucal, Negros Island in the Southern Philippines.
Last May 3 on the World Day of Vocations, the Sisters of Brazil Vice-province (Our Lady of Aparecida) in their frontier community of Juazeiro do Norte welcomed two candidates to the Aspirantate - Sara and Luziane - after three months of experience in their community. Juazeiro do Norte is a famous pilgrim place of the late Father Cicero, where the former Caritas Sisters General Superior, Mother Apolinaria suddenly passed away last 2015.
And finally last week the Caritas Sister in Northern Uganda, Gulu - Adete, after 9 years of their African mission in South Sudan, are happy to share the news about their first group of aspirants who are proceeding to the postulancy stage under the guidance of the Sisters. At the moment, there are two postulants and four aspirants. Due to the present pandemic travel restrictions of travel, this year only one new aspirant was able to reach this new formation community.
The Sisters continue to pray for their new candidates and members in three different continents and ask the Lord that they may become His passionate disciples to shine the beauty of His Church far and wide.
