Salesian Cooperators Retreat Thailand, 2019

Bangkok, Thailand, 23 July 2019 -- On 19-21 July 2019, 90 members of the Salesian Cooperators held their annual spiritual retreat and seminar at the Don Bosco Home - Krungthep Kritha, Bangkok on the theme "Walk With Jesus". The spiritual exercises were animated by Fr. Peter Niphon Sarachit, SDB.
The retreat began in the evening of 19 July 2019 with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist officiated by Bishop Joseph Prathan Sridarunsil, SDB, At one point in his homily, the Bishop shared that "...being a Salesian Cooperator is a vocation. God has called us to follow Him, which, at present, is not very easy [the time of 5 generations: the Baby Boomers, Generation X, Generation Y, Generation Z, Generation C] God has called us to come out from our 'comfort zone', just like when He called Abraham, in order to live a life following Jesus faithfully. To do this, we have to meditate and reflect on the 'Word of God', and allow the 'Word of God' to lead us every day"
On 20 July 2019, the Cooperators went on a pilgrimage to Ayuthaya, trailing the important historical places of the Catholic Church of Thailand, among them are the Portuguese Village and the St. Joseph Church of Ayuthaya. Together with these, they also listened to the story of the 350 years of the Christianization of Siam. The day culminated with the 'Way of the Cross', the reception of the Sacrament of Reconciliation, and the offering of the Holy Mass celebrated by Fr. Peter Niphon Sarachit.
On 21 July 2019, there was the regular annual meeting of the Association. During the celebration of the Holy Mass, the 7 new members made their solemn promise, and all the other members renewed their promise in the presence of Fr. Dominic Savio Suphot Riungam, the Delegate of the Association.
Now we have 188 salesian Cooperators in the Thai province. Mr.Pornsawad Lertvitayavivat is the coordinator. Fr. Dominic Suphot Riungam is the SDB delegate for the Salesian Cooperators while Sr.Maria Suphawan Chotiphon is the FMA delegate.
