Missionary Life of Br. Jomar Castillo: Hard, Happy and Holy!
By Fr. Ding Cortez, SDB
Missionary Animation Delegate FIN
Manila, the Philippines, 11 May 2019 -- Today is the 11th of the month: Salesian Missions commemoration! The Missionary in focus today is Bro. Jomar Castillo SDB who is assigned to the Brazil - Amazon region of Manaus. His missionary life, he expressed is really hard, happy and holy. That is why he all the more strengthens his resolve to proclaim to all the world his "YES!" to God's call to become a SIGN and BEARER of His LOVE for the YOUNG.
The best way of missionary animation is simply to have the missionary speak about his/her daily life. After 3 years in Brazil, Brother Jomar shares the daily joys and struggles of his community located at the heart of the Amazon region (Rondonia), a Don Bosco setting made up of parish, youth center, school, Salesian youth movement and missionary outreach to the indigenous people.
Watching his 6 minute video is a really refreshing and uplifting experience, one that can change the minds of many young people or young Salesians. How do you feel about it? Are you feeling the call of God to FURTHER beyond the confines of our Province and minister to far more young people who need most our Salesian LOVE? May we all be GENEROUS!
Our FIN Mission Animation Commission is preparing for the incoming Special Missionary Month (October 2019) with a consistent testimonials from our young Filipino missionaries ad gentes. Support us with your prayers for new missionary vocation and for the present missionaries of the Salesian Family worldwide.
Why just today on the 11th of May? The first missionaries of Don Bosco were sent by our Father on 11th November 1875 to Argentina. In many SDB provinces we try to celebrate each month the missionary DNA of the Salesian Charism, that is truly missionary!
