Cebu, the Philippines, 31 January 2019 -- The Salesian Family, students, benefactors, novices and aspirants witnessed the blessing of the new novitiate chapel of St Francis of Sales in the Don Bosco Formation Centre, on the Feast of St John Bosco. Fr Vaclav Klement, SDB, regional councillor for the East Asia Oceania region presided over the blessing. He gave a short message on the importance of the Salesian vocation which is strengthened by one’s dedication to Mary Help of Christians and the effort to learn from the wisdom shared by Francis De Sales in his writings. The chapel was built through the contribution of several Salesian provinces, benefactors in the Philippines and abroad. A hearty breakfast followed, at which Fr Amelito Racelis SDB, rector of Don Bosco Formation Centre, acknowledge the local benefactors who were present for the event.
Salesian Family Mass in Honor of Don Bosco
31 January 2019 -- The feast day of St. John Bosco. The Salesian Family of the Philippines South Province (FIS) celebrated together the feast of St. John Bosco with a solemn Holy Mass in the Archdiocesan Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes, Cebu. It was presided by Fr. Vaclav Klement, SDB, the Regional Councilor for the East Asia Oceania Region. Representing the Salesian Family, were the ADMA, the Cooperators, Past Pupils, the Kindergarten students, the parishioners of the Shrine, the Aspirants, Pre-novices and Novices of Don Bosco Formation Center.
In his homily, Fr. Klement stressed the importance of communication among the Salesian Family members in the Philippines. He also shared the message that the Rector Major gave to the youth of the world, highlighting the challenge that “they too can be holy”.
After the Holy Mass, the members of the Salesian Family gathered in the Youth Center Gymnasium for dinner and program.
