Port Moresby, PNG, 2 June 2017 -- Don Bosco Technical School, Gabutu, Port Moresby, held the Opening of its annual Intramurals on the 2nd June, 2017.
This yearly event had for its theme: ‘Play with Courage, Live with Faith’
“Appreciate, develop and nourish the life of Faith and witness to Gospel values basing ourselves on the life of St. Dominic Savio”, said Fr Sonny Fajardo SDB as he addressed the gathering at the start of the event.
The day was a colourful one with each class dressed in their brightly coloured uniform. The torch was carried by lap runners of the different classes. After the Oath of Sportsmanship, Fr Angel Sanchez SDB, Rector declared the event open.
The Team Banner, mascot, chant or song were then presented. This was followed by the interclass games. The competition will continue every week.
The values of unity, respect, sportsmanship, honesty, teamwork and collaboration are essential. These are best learnt as young people challenge and compete with each other. These values need to be put into practice well beyond the boundaries of Don Bosco.
Recalling the maxim of Don Bosco, ‘Run, jump, make noise, but do not sin’, the students enjoyed the day and look forward to the competition ahead.
