DBYC Lawaan, Cebu, the Philippines, 04 July 2025 -- The Don Bosco Formation Center Lawaan successfully held its Summer Camp last June 23 to 27, 2025, in the scenic town of Maasin, Southern Leyte. Anchored on the theme “We Journey Along,” the camp became a sacred space for spiritual growth, deep reflection, and joyful fellowship.
Participants were warmly welcomed at the seminary of the Diocese of Maasin, which served as the group’s home base throughout the journey. Each day was filled with pilgrimages to parishes and religious sites in the region, allowing the community to embrace the rich heritage of faith in Southern Leyte. These moments of prayer and discovery were captured in their Jubilee journals, reinforcing the beauty of journeying inward while walking together.
The highlight of the camp was the meaningful visit to Limasawa Island on June 26 to 27, where the First Easter Mass in the Philippines took place. The group explored the Shrine of the First Easter Mass, stood in awe beneath Magellan’s Cross, and admired the peaceful glow of the Tower of Lights, which also hosted the group overnight. Surrounded by waves and history, participants were deeply moved by the island’s spiritual significance.
This memorable summer camp was not just a series of activities—it was a heartfelt pilgrimage that inspired the community to journey deeper into their vocations and walk united in faith.
