DBYC Lawaan, Cebu, the Philippines, 2 July 2025 -- A camp was held at the Don Bosco Formation Center–Lawaan for the Knights of the Altar (KOA) from June 20 to 21, 2025. Those were days filled with meaningful learning, bonding with fellow Knights, and praying together as brothers in the Lord Jesus. Fr. Adrian Mendoza, SDB, gave a talk on the life and mission of St. John Bosco. Inspired by the saint’s dedication to poor and abandoned youth, the Knights were challenged to serve one another and other young people as he did. Fr. Vince Michael Sabal, SDB, shared about the importance and centrality of prayer in the life of the KOA. His session began with an activity that allowed the Knights to express what prayer means to them personally. They were then invited, as St. Paul said, to “do all in the name of the Lord Jesus”—so that one’s entire life and actions become an offering of prayer to God. Lastly, Kuya John Lorenzo Oflas spoke about leadership, emphasizing that as Knights, they must first learn to lead themselves before they can lead others.
This series of inputs allowed the Knights to learn and deepen their dedication to serve, to pray, and to love the Lord.
The KOA members were also given opportunities to listen and share their thoughts, learnings, and reflections with one another. Thanks to the KOA leaders who facilitated the entire camp. Games and fellowship activities were also integrated into the camp to foster teamwork, camaraderie, and unity as Knights. The KOA Camp indeed helped the Knights grow in faith and reminded them to live out their motto: Called to Serve!
