DBYC Lawaan, the Philippines, 9 June 2025 -- In a vibrant celebration of faith and tradition, the members of DBYC-Lawaan gathered last May 23 at Don Bosco Formation Center pilgrim hall for a heartfelt tribute to honor the Feast Day of Mary Help of Christians. This celebration holds special significance for the Salesian family, as St. John Bosco had a deep devotion to Mary Help of Christians. He believed that, whether in times of joy or difficulty, she reminds us that we are never alone.

The event began with a liturgical dance prayer led by LOA, which set a reverent tone for the program. This was followed by an icebreaker performed by the members of DBYC.

A question-and-answer session served as introductory entertainment, allowing time for the performers to prepare backstage while engaging the audience in lively interaction.

The first performance, entitled “Padayon”, was presented by KOA. It portrayed a father, Nino Lepiten, who refused to support his youngest son, Jamir Rallorata, in his dream of becoming a priest. The narrative unfolded as the father was challenged by the wisdom of his eldest son, James Torres, who emphasized the importance of love, faith, and support. Meanwhile, the younger son’s deep devotion was shown through his heartfelt prayers to Mary Help of Christians, seeking guidance and hope in fulfilling his vocation.

This story highlighted the power of faith, love, and perseverance in pursuing one’s calling, even in difficult times. Inspired by Mary Help of Christians, it showed how prayer and a family’s support can bring healing and help fulfill a divine purpose.

Shortly afterward, Jamaico Rallorata delivered a solo rendition of Stella Maris, captivating the audience and setting a reflective tone for the inspiring words that followed.

The next storytelling performance, “Maria”, featured Biblos, the Choir, and Zatti. It depicted a young woman struggling to move forward after losing loved ones and feeling mentally alone. Just when she was about to lose hope, her eldest brother encouraged her to turn to Mary Help of Christians for guidance and comfort. Through prayer, she found strength and now lives a life filled with trust, love, and renewed faith.

The story reminds us that even in our darkest moments, turning to faith and asking Mary for guidance can lead us to healing and hope.

A short talent break brought rhythm and flair as Reincarl delivered an electrifying beatbox performance that showcased his talent and added lively energy to the program.

The final and moving performance, “Giya,” was presented by LOA. It followed a struggling mother and her two daughters after being abandoned by their father. The eldest daughter gave up her studies to work and support the family, while the youngest focused on finishing school to build a better future. Though their different paths led to conflict, especially when the eldest, feeling unappreciated, walked away, the mother and youngest daughter never lost faith. They continually prayed to Mary Help of Christians and trusted in the Lord. The youngest found strength not only through prayer but also through the support of friends and loved ones. In the end, the eldest returned home with a renewed heart, the youngest became a teacher, and their mother felt deeply grateful, showing that love, sacrifice, and faith can bring a family back to healing and unity.

This story teaches us to hold on to our faith, reminding us that while hard work, support, and perseverance help us overcome life’s struggles, we must never forget to turn to Mary Help of Christians and the Lord Jesus Christ, who are always there to guide, listen, and strengthen us—every day, everywhere.

Bringing a touching moment to the program, the DBYC members sang “Awit sa Ina ng Santo Rosario,” filling the atmosphere with reverence and heartfelt devotion.

To conclude the event, the DBFC Father Rector, Fr. Andy Mendoza, SDB, delivered a heartfelt Goodnight Talk, emphasizing the importance of holding on to our faith as a community. He reminded everyone that no matter the challenges we face, Mary Help of Christians and the Lord Jesus Christ are always with us—guiding, listening, and walking beside us every step of the way. The audience was filled with peace, hope, and renewed spiritual strength after his heartfelt message.

A blessing was then offered over the prepared snacks, which everyone joyfully shared.

This event reminds us that faith is a powerful anchor that helps us endure life’s challenges with hope, strength, and trust in God’s plan. Mary Help of Christians is a constant source of comfort and guidance, always ready to intercede for us and lead us closer to her Son. The DBYC community is deeply grateful to be part of this meaningful tribute, honoring Mary with hearts full of love and devotion.
