EAO Salesian Necrology - 2019 version published

By Fr. Joseph Kriengsak, SDB
Provincial Secretary

Bangkok, Thailand, 9 August 2019 -- The Salesian family spirit is expressed in many ways, in the affections within our community life, in our mission, in hundreds of relationships with the Laity as mission partners as well with the youngsters. Our relationship in Jesus is not limited to our life on this earth. Our simple, but daily prayer for the deceased confreres is amongst the finest expression of our living family spirit too.

We read in our Constitutions and Regulations:

" ... Death for the Salesian is made bright by the hope of entering into the joy of his Lord,1 and when it happens that a Salesian dies working for souls, the Congregation has won a great triumph.2 The memory of departed confreres unites, “in a love that will not pass away”, those who are still pilgrims with those who are already resting in Christ. (SDB Constitutions art. 54)

'Each community, as a sign of brotherly communion, should remember in a special way all deceased confreres; for this purpose individual communities should decide on an opportune moment for the daily reading of the necrology in one of the community practices'. (SDB Regulations art. 47)

We are happy to share one of the Salesian animation materials produced in our Thailand-Cambodia-Laos (THA) province of St Paul: 'EAO Necrology 2019' (for download on the Boscolink).

We are also happy to know that the updated general 'World Necrology' is available on the central SDB website: www.sdb.org. This is probably one of the most accessed (many clicks!) part of our Salesian website!

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord.

And let perpetual light shine upon them!

May they rest in peace!

Amen.
