Suva, Fiji, 30 January 2023 -- Parishioners gathered in numbers to celebrate the feast of John Bosco in Saint John Bosco Parish Centre. Families and friends and guests (Father Donald Maldari SJ and Father Tran Quy MSC) were present to share and take part in the feast day program. Father James Kyaw-Hoe (Rector) was the main celebrant for the Eucharistic celebration, concelebrated by Father Taisali Leuluai (Parish Priest) and Father Minh Duc Nguyen.
All primary and secondary school students came to the Eucharist dressed in their school uniforms so that the students and all educators and teachers in the parish can be remembered as they begin the academic year 2023. The Liturgy was prepared by the parishioners in the St. John the Apostle sector of the parish in the village of Muanikoso.
After the Eucharistic Celebration, a traditional kava ceremony was presented to Father Taisali Leuluai and all invited quests as part of the Fijian welcoming ceremony. Each area/sector of the Parish prepared lunch which was then shared with all who participated at the feast day Eucharist. The Parish Youth provided tradition and modern dances that made the feast day of Don Bosco a very special day.
The parish priest (Father Taisali Leuluai) later thanked all area leaders and parishioners for their great effort, support, and their contributions which made it possible for all the parishioners and their families and guests to celebrate the feast of Don Bosco.
The Parish Youth completed the festivity of the day with games in the evening. There was an atmosphere of joy and energy as friends came together to meet new friends and, together with the Salesian Brothers, enjoy each other’s company.
Happy Feast Day of Don Bosco to you all from our Salesian Community and all parishioners of Saint John Bosco Parish in Fiji.
