Port Moresby, PNG, 12 May 2017 Savio Haus was blessed with the Visitation of Fr. Alfred Maravilla, SDB, PGS Vice Provincial Superior.

Among many of his interventions as he animated the community, he stressed on the need to reawaken the missionary spirit and zeal in our Province. According to Fr. Alfred our Congregation grew because of our Father and Founder - St. John Bosco- who sent the best of his sons to the missions. Similarly it is the missionary zest against the comfort of the status quo that will launch PGS Vice-Province into a new era of growth. At his behest, Savio Haus formed a missions group that will assist Fr. Sonny, the Provincial Delegate for the Missions to animate Blessed Philip Rinaldi Vice-Province.

The Provincial himself drafted and indicated the main aim of the missions group, that is, to keep alive Don Bosco’s missionary spirit in the Savio Haus community and the whole Vice Province particularly.

In order to achieve that the group shall commit itself to:

  1. Invite the community to pray for the Salesian Missionary Prayer intention of the month

  2. Prepare a prayer every 11 of the month

  3. Help the Savio Haus community be more aware of the missionary activities of the Salesian Congregation in the different parts of the world

  4. Organize and celebrate in the Savio Haus the Salesian Mission Day every year (possibly around June 14)

  5. Spearhead initiatives among the aspirants to raise fund to contribute for the Salesian Mission Day Project every year (note: the purpose is to raise awareness and solidarity, not so much the amount collected)
