Lahore, Pakistan, 4 September 2023 -- The Economer General is visiting Pakistan. From 1 to 3 September, the house in Lahore had the joy of welcoming him. They were intense days in which Bro. Jean Paul Muller made us perceive the closeness of the Congregation and the vitality of Don Bosco's charism. In a very familiar atmosphere, in which he also shared various moments in the lives of the numerous boys hosted at the boarding school, he had meetings with the Salesian community, with the staff of teachers and trainers, with boys and girls from the school and with the students at the Technical Centre. He visited the mechanical, welding, carpentry, IT laboratories, courses for electricians, and the refrigeration techniques laboratory. Furthermore, he awarded diplomas to 60 girls and boys who recently completed courses for beauticians and barbers.
Bro. Muller also had a long meeting with the groups of the Salesian Family present in Lahore: Salesian Cooperators, Past Pupils and ADMA. Another very intense moment was the visit to the tomb of past pupil Akash Bashir who in 2015 sacrificed his life to foil the plan to carry out a massacre in the parish packed with people. Akash managed to prevent the attacker from entering the church, but his body was torn apart by the bomb. The visit to the grave was followed by a very intimate and touching moment with Akash's family.
The advice and requests of Bro. Muller will be very valuable to better serve the thousand young people who attend the Salesian house in Lahore every day.
