Encouraged by Salesian Bishop of Thai Binh

By North Vietnam Delegation

Thai Binh, Diocesan Center, Vietnam, 1 December 2019 --On the morning of 25 November 2019, the North Vietnam Delegation began its 3 day workshop at Thai Binh Diocesan Center, 100 km from Hanoi. The rectors, priests in charge of non-canonical communities and delegation council worked on the 3 year Delegation strategic plan until 27 November.

Under the guidance of Fr. Thomas Aquinas Tuan, Delegate for North Vietnam and animated by Fr. Peter Chinh, Provincial Councillor, Provincial Social Communications Delegate, with Prof. Tri (planning expert) the 20 confreres spent a busy time in prayer, reflection and planning exercise.

At the beginning of the meeting they asked the Holy Spirit to sanctify and enlighten the planning workshop. With that deep awareness, they believe that all decisions and choices are always the directions that God accompanies and enlightens.

Then, with the ministry experience and the diversity of local work and with the guidance of the Congregation, the confreres were determined to reflect seriously on what was needed for the next three years of activity. In 3 days of exchanging, analyzing and working, the confreres were determined to choose two practical goals to build their operation plan. First: the quality of Salesian education in Salesian parishes through the establishment of a Pastoral Education Community (EPC) in each Salesian parish. Second: Strengthening the sense of belonging of Salesian members in the North Delegation. With these two points of choice, the confreres set out practical activities directions to build and strengthen fraternal spirit in the North Delegation with 44 confreres.

The Workshop participants were graced with the animating presence of Salesian Bishop Peter Nguyen Van De, Thai Binh diocese. In his morning talk on 27 November, he reminded them that all wishes and plans without a motive and Salesian fire would be just any plan "on the shelves". On the contrary, with the common responsibility, effort and the flame of truly loving young people, the community will witness to the plan and it will become practical, bringing many benefits to young people in North Vietnam.

At the end of the meeting, the Delegation Council together thanked all participants for their cooperation in developing the Delegation Plan for the coming years. During the family feast at the Thai Binh bishop's house, the confreres thanked Father Peter, the fathers and other mission partners for their support in helping the meeting run smoothly.
