Batulao, Philippines, 28 September 2023 -- The Quinquennial priests, deacons, clerics, and brothers of the Philippine North Province (FIN) had their first formative encounter last September 21 - 23, 2023, in Mary Help of Christians House of Spirituality in Batulao, Batangas.
The quinquennials were first given some time for an informal talk and to share their personal ministry experiences. This was followed by two formative inputs relevant to the present ministry of the quinquennials.
Fr. Joel Camaya, SDB, shared his retreat, recollection preparation, and preaching expertise. After giving practical tips for speaking at a retreat, he asked the quinquennials to develop a retreat module for TVET, college, and Basic Education students.
On the other hand, Fr. Danilo Torres, SDB, gave his input on ministering to adolescents and spiritual asphyxiation.
Fr. Torres shared his personal reflections and practical wisdom regarding these topics. These gatherings are given to those in ongoing formation as a kind of updating and support to our young confreres who are now fully immersed into the ministry.
Fr. Edwin Ulanday, SDB, in charge of the quinquennials, and the FIN Commission of Formation, ensure that these interventions are given to the young Salesians to assist them in their growth and maturation.
