Sumba, Indonesia, 31 October 2023 -- The cultural night activity at the Salesian Don Bosco community in Sumba on 29 October 2023 is a performing arts event to commemorate Youth Pledge Day. This event is also part of the process of nurturing talent and skills. The event is held in the form of a competition with three parts. The first part of the competition is to sing the mandatory song determined by the committee, which is "Hitam Manis." The second part is to sing a creative song from various regions. The event is attended by priests, brothers, two judges from the community's culinary field, as well as two performing groups, namely aspirants and pre-novices.
Indeed, in art competitions like this, there are usually comments, critiques, and opinions given to each performance. Although sometimes it may not be pleasant to hear, it is important for development and progress together. Unity is the main point in group performances, as the harmony of movements and vocal synchronization will be disrupted if someone stands out more. Despite wanting to give their best, it is important to remember that this competition is in the group category, not individual. Hopefully, with the presence of comments and critiques, all participants can grow and develop even better.
It's great to see that both groups have given their best in the competition. The decision of the judges must be accepted with an open mind, as there must be a winner in the competition. Although the pre-novice group did not become the winner, it doesn't mean that their performance was not good. Their captivating dance performance caught the attention of the judges and provided them an opportunity to continue to grow and improve even further.
Congratulations to the aspirant group for their victory in this competition. Hopefully, their spirit and dedication to developing their talents and skills will continue to be maintained. Congratulations also to the prenovice group for their extraordinary effort and performance. Keep up the spirit and keep developing in the arts and talents that you have.
