Apia, Samoa, 13 December 2024 -- The Salesian Family in Samoa gathered today for a solemn Eucharistic celebration led by Fr Provincial, Fr Peter Hoang, marking a day of significance and renewal for our mission in the Pacific. During the Mass, two important events highlighted the occasion: the installation of Fr Taisali Leuluai as the new Pacific Delegate for the Australia-Pacific Province and Fr Bernie Graham as the new Rector of the Alafua Community. These appointments signify a fresh chapter for our mission, ensuring leadership rooted in faith and service to the young.
A Moment of Remembrance.
Following the Eucharist, the Provincial Council and Salesians in Samoa proceeded to the Moamoa Theological cemetery to bless the newly installed headstones of our departed confreres: Fr Jack Ayers, Fr Mika Leilua, and Fr James Adayadiel. This heartfelt moment honored their lives and the legacy they left behind in serving God, the Church, and the young.
Strengthening Our Mission.
Today’s events reflect the strength and continuity of the Salesian mission in Samoa and the Pacific. The appointments of Fr Taisali and Fr Bernie bring new energy and vision to our work, while the remembrance of our departed confreres reminds us of the sacrifices and dedication that continue to inspire us. As we move forward, let us keep Fr Taisali Leuluai and Fr Bernie Graham in our prayers, so that they may lead with wisdom, humility, and the spirit of Don Bosco. May we, as a Salesian Family, remain united in our commitment to bringing Christ’s love to the young and marginalized in Samoa as well as the Pacific. Today, we celebrate not only new beginnings but also the enduring legacy of faith and service that defines the Salesian way.
