Hua Hin, Thailand, 11 October 2024 -- The Salesian Congregation of Thailand organized a seminar for teachers with 10 years of service. This focused on Don Bosco's "Preventive System" and the application of AI in education.
Father Smith Daengamphan SDB, the head of the Commission of the Salesian Schools of Thailand, organized a seminar for 32 teachers who have worked for 10 years, on the topic of "Don Bosco's Preventive System". This was held from 4-6 October 2024 at the Salesian Retreat House, Hua Hin, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province.
Father Boonlert Paneetatthayasai, the Provincial, gave the opening conference on the topic "10 Years of Dedication for the Salesian Youth of Thailand."
On 5 October, Father Manachai Tharachai SDB, gave a lecture on “Don Bosco’s Preventive System”. This revived the essential elements of the system and their connection to being a teacher in Salesian schools. This was followed by a lecture on “AI and Thai Education” by Professor Phuwadon Chaisomboon, to prepare the teachers to cope with the technological changes that will influence the education sector, including the use of AI as tools to help make teaching more efficient. In the afternoon, there was a practical workshop and presentation of each group’s work to promote participation and exchange of ideas among seminar participants.
On the last day of the seminar, Father Manachai Tharachai gave a summary of the lectures on the topic of “Integrating AI with Don Bosco’s Preventive System”, which will combined Don Bosco’s original ideas with modern AI.
Finally, this seminar aimed to develop the potential of the teachers and to prepare them to become teachers in the digital age, while also adhering to the spirit of St. John Bosco, the founder of the Salesian Congregation, in working for the youth in Salesian schools.
