Utume, Kenya, 26 May 2016 -- Student of theology - missionary from AFO province (Togo) to AFE province (South Sudan) connected to the AustraLasia news n. 3996 (Deacon ordination) by Cl. Peter Dung.

Greetings from Utume Don Bosco Formation house, at the end of the 2015-2016 school year, just few days after finished our final exams and few days before deacon and priestly ordinations.

Allow me to share with the AustraLasia news readers our missionary group activity of the pastoral year 2015 - 2016. I was the leader of the group of which with 11 members during this school year. Our Missionary Group is one among the various animation groups in the larger formation house of 60 Salesians. It is not composed only by the missionary ad gentes, but by any confrere who wants contribute to the missionary animation, especially on the Cagliero’s Day (11th of each month) for the whole community.

Our group cares especially:

  • About the organization of "Cagliero Day", the monthly prayer for the Salesian missions, every 11th of the month.
  • About the publication of "Jumbo Youth" a bi-weekly brochure of formation and information to the young people of our various apostolate place (you can follow also on FB: Jumbo Youth).
  • About the organization of community prayers during some special liturgical moments of the Year (Advent, Lent - Way of Cross, October – Rosary or various Novenas).

This school year we carried these activities and we tried our best to animate the community to maintain its desire to pray for the Salesian missions. Between August 2015 and May 2016, we were quite faithful, we managed to organize 8 monthly prayers for the missions with missionary vocation sharing and some particular themes that you will find in the annual plan (accessible on the Boscolink: Resources)

We were also faithful in the publication of biweekly Jumbo Youth brochure and in the service to the Salesian community on some special occasions. All of us as group we were happy and satisfied for what we did together. We are waiting for the evaluation of the community at the beginning of next coming pastoral year.
