Yamanaka, Japan, 6 June 2019 -- The Japan Province of the Salesians of Don Bosco opened its the Provincial Chapter on 2 June, with 29 SDB delegates. It was held at the retreat house of Salesian sisters in Yamanaka at the foot of Mt. Fuji. This is the first time for the Japan Province to have the Provincial Chapter together with Lay mission partners who came from our schools, boys homes, and kindergartens.

One of the agenda items for the Chapter is the preparation for GC28. Other agenda items are to make decisions on what the most important themes are for Japan province and to make concrete action plans for them. In order to focus on our mission as Salesians, we have to reshape our parishes due to the lack of Salesian Priests and Brothers. The number of foreign young workers is increasing. Vietnamese young workers especially need pastoral care as Catholics. And also we talked about the future plan for our Junior Aspirantate.

With the Japan PC 2019 all 12 Provincial Chapters in the EAO region have concluded.
