Lawaan, Cebu, Philippines, 10 October 2023 -- On September 30, 2023, the Don Bosco Formation Center-Lawaan officially opened the Academic Year 2023-2024. The program started with a Votive Mass to the Holy Spirit which was presided over by Rev. Fr. Adrian Mendoza, SDB, Rector and President of DBFC-Lawaan. Fr. Amelito Racelis, SDB, the Vicar of the Provincial, and the Salesian priests of DBFC concelebrated with Fr. Mendoza. The Faculty and Non-Teaching Staff, Novices, Prenovices, Aspirants, BEARERs and students from the Evangelium Program were present during the said activity. During the Holy Mass, the Faculty, as educators of a Salesian and Catholic institution, made their Profession of Faith and Oath of Fidelity to the Magisterium.
After the Holy Mass, a short program followed. Fr. Adrian Mendoza, SDB, officially declared the Academic Year 2023-2024 opened. Rev. Fr. Erwin Joey E. Cabilan, SDB, the Chairperson of AB Religious Education and Pastoral Communication Program and the Program Director of Don Bosco Center for Lay and Youth (DBCLAY) presented to the Educative Pastoral Community the Code of Personal and Professional of the Salesians of Don Bosco – Philippine South Province. Some selected aspirants serenaded the whole community with famous Filipino folk songs. Aspirant Christian Jude Baring gave his acceptance speech after receiving the signed Code of Conduct. Finally, the Salesians, together with Novices, sang the song entitled Household of Faith to all present in a gesture of welcome. The program culminated with the singing of the school hymn, Ecce Ego Mitte Me.
