Vatican, 30 January 2016 - On the vigil of the feast of our very dear Saint John Bosco the Holy Father Francis appointed Bishop of the Diocese of Dili (East Timor) the Fr. Virgilio Do Carmo Da Silva, SDB, the Superior of the Vice Province ITM.


The Fr. Virgilio Do Carmo Da Silva, SDB was born November 27, 1967 at Venilale, in the diocese of Baucau. After primary and secondary schools of the Salesians in Fatumaca, he entered the Salesian Society of Don Bosco. The following was sent to study philosophy and theology in Manila. He made his first profession of the Salesian of Don Bosco on 31 May 1990 and his perpetual profession on 19 March 1997. He was ordained priest on 18 December 1998.


After ordination he held the following positions: 1999-2004, Assistent of the novices; 2004-2005, Economer of the Formation House in Venilale and assistant of Parish priest; 2005-2007, Studies in Rome for a Licentiate in Spirituality at the Pontifical Salesian University; 2007-2014, Master of Novices; 2009-2014, Director of the House and the Don Bosco Tecnnical High School in Fatumaca; 2015, Superior of the Vice Province ITM.


Episcopal ordination is scheduled for March 19
