Utrail, Bangladesh, 23 June 2017 -- Deacon Joseph Cosma who completed his theological studies at Ratisbonne, Jerusalem was ordained priest at Utrail on 23 June 2017, on the solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, by Bishop Ponen Paul Kubi, CSC of Mymensingh Diocese, in an impressive function attended by his granduncle, a Jesuit Bishop Cosma Hoang Van Dat of Bac Ninh diocese (Vietnam), several dignitaries, Salesian family members, religious and faithful.

Fr. Joseph Pauria and Bro. Lawrence Mondol were present on the occasion on behalf of the INC Provincial. On the eve of the Ordination, Fr. Francis Gamaliyel was installed at the new Rector of Utrail-Telunjia community.

The Salesian Mission in Bangladesh pioneered by Fr. Francis Alencherry in 2008 has grown by leaps and bounds over the last 8 years and the Ordination of Fr. Joseph Cosma will give a further boost to the fast growing mission with a good number of local Salesian consecrated vocations.

Once again I congratulate Fr. Joseph Cosma and thank all the confreres in Bangladesh for the hard work they have put in for making the day a memorable one for all.

NB: Fr. Joseph Cosma was sent by the Rector Major from Vietnam to Bangladesh in 2011
