Fr Anthony Anusit Chanphen, New Salesian Priest

Hua Hin, Thailand , 19 January 2019 -- In an atmosphere of celebration and joy, our dear Brother Anthony Anusit Chanphen was ordained a Priest.
The ordination was celebrated at St Theresa’s Church in Hua Hin. The ordaining bishop was Bishop Joseph Prathan Sridarunsil, SDB, Bishop of Surat Thani. Fr John Bosco Thepharat Pitisant, Provincial, concelebrated and the event was attended by many members of the Salesian Family who came from the provinces to express their affection and esteem.
The theme chosen was: 'I am with you always, until the end of the age.’ (Mt 28:20)
The rite of Presbyteral Ordination began with the presentation of the deacons and they responded to the call: 'Here I am Lord, to do your will.
The central moment was the imposition of Hands and the Prayer of Consecration,a gesture where the Holy Spirit is invoked in his fullness. Once the prayer was over, Fr Paul Prasert Somngam, sponsor of Anthony Anusit, placed the stole on him and covered him with the chasuble as a sign of his ordination.
At the end of Mass, Fr. Anusit said “Thank you” to Bishop Joseph Prathan who ordained him, Fr John Bosco Thepharat Pitisant, Provincial, Fr John Tamayo, parish priest, Fr Bernie Graham, Vice Provincial of the Australia-Pacific, Fr Phillip Gleeson, Rector of Salesian House, Melbourne, where the newly ordained studied, teachers and staff of Hua Hin Vitthayalai School and also everyone who prepared for the occasions and came to this celebration.
The celebration concluded with a fraternal agape with music and dance groups.
Fr. Anusit is the first Salesian to come from St Benedictine’s Church, Pong Yo. This is a new Catholic vocation which has grown to be a new tree. He celebrated his first Mass on Sunday 20, 2019 at St Theresa’s Church, Hua Hin.
