Seoul, Korea, 22 January 2016 - In the afternoon of the 22nd January, Cl. Pius Hwang and Dnc. Cirillo Shim were ordained deacon and priest respectively through the laying-on of hands and prayer of the Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Seoul, Mons. Peter Jeong Soontaek, OCD. It took place in the large 7th floor chapel of the Salesian Provincial House in Seoul that was witnessed by about 800 people which include representatives from the various branches of Salesian Family in Korea and with 50 concelebrating priests.

Mons. Peter Jeong said: “The priest is one who proclaims the Word, teaches catechism, leads the people to build up the Kingdom of God, follows the good example of Christ, ministers to the poor and humbles himself like St. Francis de Sales. Up to now you have not forgotten, especially in the spirit of Don Bosco, that you have expressed, as your highest priority, to be God's love to the young, to be His signs of love for them.”

Fr. Stefano Yang, Provincial, told the newly ordained: “My dear new priest and deacon, as I have been your novice master, I know very well both of you. I wish that the newly ordained, be true disciples of the Lord. Knowing and imitating the heart of Don Bosco's may you be fascinated ministers who are fully engaged in the mission for poor youth. With the Rector Major let's make the young our adventure in Spirit.” He expressed his gratitude to the parents who have generously given their sons to Don Bosco’s mission, and he thanked the confreres who willingly followed up these newly ordained. Finally, he thanked the young people who gives significance and meaning to our Salesian vocation.

Early morning, of the same day, four young men, Cl. Joseph Shin, Cl. Moise Song, Bro. Papias Oh and Cl. Andrew Heo made their first profession in before of the KOR Provincial. Moreover, two other candidates to the Salesian Life have started their formation year as novices.
