Daejeon, Korea, 12 February 2024 -- The Salesian Summer School of Faith, which has provided profound faith experiences and unforgettable memories for middle and high school students in each parish, will resume in the summer of 2024. This is great news for many parishes, as the pandemic forced the closure of summer faith formation in the years following 2020, leaving many parishes unable to adequately respond to this important part of the faith journey of young people.
The Salesian Summer School of Faith is a unique contribution of the Salesian Congregation to the Church in Korea over more than 40 years. With its long pedagogical and pastoral tradition and highly qualified Salesians and volunteers, it is so popular and in demand in the Korean Church that all places were filled after just one hour after registrations opened.
On 7 February, the Salesians of Daejeon announced the schedule for the 2024 summer school of faith for elementary school students. There will be seven three-day sessions from 21 July to 16 August, and each session will be limited to 185 participants, and each parish will be limited to 60 participants. This means that at least three or four parishes will join together to participate in each session.
The traditionally more prestigious Summer School of Faith for middle and high school students is expected to be held at the Naeri Retreat House at the seaside. We hope that the resumption of the Summer School will be good news for parishes across the country and that the Salesians' accompanying programs for young people's faith journeys will be promoted more vigorously, contributing to the building up of the Church and the realization of the Kingdom of God.
